VDL Groep welcomes you to this website and appreciates your interest in our company and our products and services. VDL Groep places great importance on your privacy. We therefore consider it important to inform you how we handle your personal data. This privacy policy applies to all personal data left by visitors to the website of VDL Groep B.V. or its subsidiaries. For the sake of transparency, we have described in this privacy policy what we do with this data.

Types of personal data

The personal data processed by VDL via the website often includes your contact details, such as your name and email address, a search query you enter, or a question you ask in the form. In addition, via the ‘Vacancies, Working at VDL, Internships & training and Contact’ functions, you can search for vacancies, and these search queries may also be stored and linked to, for example, your IP address, as well as the information that a website visitor uploads or enters on the website. Naturally, we also process uploaded CVs and covering letters.

In addition, information may be stored automatically about you as a visitor to this website, such as your IP address and your click behaviour. We often collect this information directly during your visit using so-called cookies. You can find more information about this in the cookie statement.

We would like to point out that even if you visit the website as a business customer, we consider this information to be (indirect) personal data and therefore safeguard your privacy.

Purpose for processing personal data

Data you provide to VDL Groep via the website are processed by us for general business purposes, such as providing information about certain products and services. We may then use the personal data stored to contact you.
Your data may also be used to send digital newsletters, provided that you have given your explicit consent for this. We regard this form of contact as VDL’s legitimate interest.

In addition, the website is also intended as an application channel, and vacancies are also displayed on the website. These processing activities are also considered to be VDL’s legitimate interest, as well as necessary for the performance of (or preparation for) an employment contract.

Receiving parties

The processing activities include, in any event, sending personal data within VDL Groep. This website serves as a central point, and personal data is forwarded to the relevant entity that you, as a business customer or applicant, wish to contact. Naturally, this personal data is only shared where there is a necessary reason to do so and solely with recipients for whom the personal data is relevant. Your data may be shared with VDL entities abroad.

If VDL believes that you are using the website unlawfully, this would be a reason to pass your personal data on to a (legal) third-party recipient.

On our website, you will find buttons in various places that provide access to social media channels. If you use these social media buttons, the privacy statement of the relevant social media platform applies, and they will store your personal data. VDL has no influence over, and accepts no responsibility for, the use of social media buttons on the VDL website.

Retention period

VDL Groep does not retain your data for longer than is strictly necessary. For the purposes described above, a retention period of 6 months is reasonable. In addition, VDL may retain anonymised data for statistical and research purposes. For personal data that we receive in connection with a job application or the lead-up to one, VDL will not retain this information for longer than 4 weeks after the relevant procedure has ended. If VDL has requested and obtained your consent, VDL may retain these application details for a maximum of one year.

Your rights

Because we process your personal data, you have the right to:

• Submit a request to access your personal data;
• Submit a request to correct or delete certain data where the personal data is irrelevant or inaccurate;
• Submit a request to restrict or object to the processing of personal data;
• Submit a request for data portability;
• Withdraw your consent.

If you wish to make use of (one of) these options, you can contact: AVG@vdl.nl. For all requests and your rights, VDL will balance the interests involved and will comply with your request as far as possible. If, for whatever reason, you wish to withdraw your consent, we are obliged to honour this.

All personal data you leave on this website is provided voluntarily. However, it goes without saying that we cannot contact you, provide information or conduct an application process if we do not have the correct personal data.

Changes and notifications about your privacy

If you have any questions or comments about our processing of your personal data, please contact us via AVG@vdl.nl. We will do our utmost to assist you. If you wish to respond to this privacy policy, or if you believe that VDL Groep is not acting in accordance with this privacy policy, please contact VDL Groep via AVG@vdl.nl. If we are unable to resolve the matter, you always have the option of reporting it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

This privacy policy was last amended on 25 May 2018 and applies to VDL Groep B.V. (PO Box 8811, 5605 LV Eindhoven, the Netherlands). If VDL chooses to amend this privacy policy, we will announce this on this page.

Cookies

To optimise the service, so-called ‘cookies’ are placed on your computer via the website to a limited extent. These are small information files that are stored on your computer.
