Math Gerris
· Age:
58 years
· How did you end up at VDL TIM Hapert?
I started at VDL Metaal in 2002, and in April 2008, VDL TIM was looking for a logistics employee to work in shifts.
Due to my logistics background (15 years as an international driver), I then transferred to VDL TIM.
This was quickly arranged by Peter Verdonkschot together with Pieter van Houtum.
On Friday I was still at VDL Metaal and on Monday I started at VDL TIM.
· How long have you been working at VDL TIM Hapert?
At VDL TIM over 16 years now
· What is your job position?
Logistics planner
· Describe your job in three words:
Challenging - just in time - open to everything
· What does a typical workday look like?
7:15 a.m. start work—cup of coffee—check email—check VBS—arrange (urgent) shipments/import-export—help colleagues—create VZA—check schedule—visit neighbors—12: 30 p.m. cycle home, eat quickly, and return at 1:00 p.m. – check email – check stocks – check schedule – update lists – cup of coffee – check transports – contact carriers – help colleagues – fill in hours and then quickly head home around 5:30 p.m.
· What do you like most about your job/position?
No day is the same.
There is always something new, especially now that I am working on the Wheel Hub project on Diamantweg.
I also enjoy interacting with everyone, especially transport companies when negotiating prices for urgent deliveries, because then I am like a market trader who always wants to haggle.
· What are your future plans/career opportunities?
To make the Wheel Hub project a success together with my colleagues.
